In 2015, Wijaya Kusuma Contractors turned an old apartment building into the five-star Grand Mercure Hotel in Kemayoran. Architect Budiman Hendropurnomo from DCM Jakarta designed the hotel. They transformed the 28-floor building into a luxurious hotel with 550 guest rooms for business and leisure travelers. The project covered over 53,000 square meters and included a basement for essential facilities and parking, providing a complete hotel experience. This was their fourth project for the same owner, showing a strong partnership.
A significant challenge was strengthening the building's structure by adding foundation piles for a large ballroom, which the apartment building needed. We also had to do extensive coring work to change the hotel layout and add new services and amenities to meet five-star standards. These careful changes produced a beautiful hotel. Guided by Budiman Hendropurnomo's vision, the transformation increased the property's value and created a prestigious destination in Kemayoran. This project also enhanced Wijaya Kusuma Contractors' reputation for high-quality work in the hospitality sector.
